Last week was our monthly Art with Aunty. The kids-and me too- always get so excited when we get to go to Aunty’s studio. So many things to play with and so many things to touch. A place where ideas are born and masterpieces are created. Now she probably would not agree with the word, masterpieces, but they truly are.
I personally love to do some personal shopping while I’m there. I hint around at things that I would just love to receive at Christmastime…..and my birthday….which is in November. 😉
This month, Aunty decided to just let the girls go at it. To paint whatever they wanted to. Aunty, Doug, and the girls took a trip to Wal-Mart where they got a wooden star, an owl, and 2 anchors. Ella picked the owl and Cayli and Naty chose the anchors. That left me with the star. I wanted to let my creative side out too, ya know?
First of all, teal is my favorite color. I was very impressed with Ella’s color choice. And the black eyes? Perfect! Usually Ella just throws something together but I really saw her concentrating this time. Instead of focusing on keeping things moving, I witnessed her thinking through the project. Actually seeing the end result and working towards it.
Can you tell that the love of teal runs in the family? Aunty always gives us such a variety of colors to choose from.
Yep…..that was my creation. I was going for more of a firework. What I got was more like feathers so that works too! Do you notice the teal?
Aunty taught Naty about gradation which is the minute changes from one shade to another. There’s so many things you see upon looking at this painting. Where I see the ocean with a purple sky, Naty turns it the other way and sees a blue sky with a purple landscape. Love it!
“Ella, do you want some glitter?” Aunty asked. Ummm…….
What do you do to incorporate art into your homeschool?
